Congratulations to our Young Athlete coach, Ellie Stone, who along with Aileen McGlynn took a silver medal in the Women’s Tandem Para B Sprint before going on to pick up a bronze medal in the Women’s Tandem B 1000m Time Trial at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Well done Ellie .Cycling seems to have a link with the club with multiple Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games medallist Neah Evans a former member.

New member Aoife Carr, who has recently graduated from Glasgow University in medicine, has been re writing the women’s Club 1500m record with two great runs in recent weeks. Last week in Tullamore (Ireland) she ran 4.29.20 in the AAI Irish Games when she finished 3rd but again improved this on Friday evening at the GAA Milers meeting with a time of 4.25.87. The Miler meeting also saw a number of PB 1500m performances across the age groups with Jamie Burns (3.52.21),Sam Lesley (3.59.08) and Katie Woods (4.53.88) all making great strides in this event. Matthew Fox was a bit off his PB with a time of 4.39.28 but has a few weeks to up his game before the National Championships.

In the 5000m saw Avril Mason (17.57.71) and Holly Morrison 18.46.18 (PB) competing

Gordon Bury’s Sprint Group continued their tour of the Border Sprint Circuit with Gkontouin Imante winning the open 9Om and Cole Kilpatrick competing in the heats at the Langholm Games – Great experience for these young sprinters as they learn their trade in the handicap sprint events.
