Dean Country Park in Kilmarnock was the venue for the National Masters Cross Country Championships. By all accounts it was hilly and 10km of mud to test our older athletes. Jethro Lennox, after a year of serious illness, is starting to click back into form .He has recently returned from New Zealand and obviously this has not done him any harm. Jethro has a real pedigree on the country placing in the National Senior Championships and competing on the world stage in mountain/hill running. He had a close battle with Iain Reid of Cambuslang but his strength allowed him to pull clear towards the end of the race to retain his National Masters Title. He led his team mates to bronze in the M40 team
competition with John Connaghan 13th ,Peter Mackie 24th, Stephen Winters 47th to a total of 72 points. Corstorphine took the team title on 66 points beating Cambuslang on the count back.

In the M50 age group the club took silver in the team contest with Walter Henderson 11th ,Bill Breckenridge 13th and Birthday boy Denis Williams 16th .Well done to them

Other athletes who competed included Andrew Kirkhope (219th) and Nasser Babazedeh(233rd)

On Sunday saw our masters athletes in action at the Emirates Arena in the Scottish Masters Indoor Championships. Carson Graham was on top form to pick up 3 Gold Medals in the 60m Hurdles, Long Jump and the High Jump. Denis Williams went one better than Saturday by picking up the 1500m title in his age group. Brain Scally also picked up a medal when he finished 3rd in his 1500m
