Brian Scally made the long journey to Birmingham to compete in the British Masters 5km Road Championships this weekend. His recent track speed was put to good use as he moved from 5th to 3rd in the final 200m to clinch the bronze medal in a time of 16.56.

Also in England this weekend were club members, Aidan Quinn and Miraji Ahmed,  at English Championships in Bedford. Aidan finished 4th in the Triple Jump (14.68) and Miraji finished 8th (14.11). Aidan recently some great news as he clinched a 4 year scholarship to New Mexcio University in USA.

On Saturday 15 of June our Young Athletes made the journey to Perth to complete at the Scottish Athletics Under 12 Superteam Events. Even with the rain and wind all our athletes performed brilliantly with plenty of PB’s . Our Boys A team of Callum Thomson, Cruz Irvin , Haris Adzajilic and Matthew Fox finished 11th in the team event and they are all Under 11’s !! Ben McCluskey, Albert Kalmar, Luke Struthers put in some great performances in the B team doing some PB’s in the 75m, Long Jump, Javelin and Relay.

The Girls A team  of Katie Woods, Emma Leiper, Emily Chatham and Chloe Fox finished 43rd team with the B team of Hannah McNicol, Katie Burns,Rosie Burns, Erin Orr finishing 48th

The following day (Sunday) saw Grangemouth hosting the final YDL Match of the season. Shettleston athletes also ran in the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10km on Friday Night (15th June) and were involved in one of the fastest ever 10km ran on home soil. Luke Traynor (Giffnock) recorded a great time of 28.31 .

At the British Army Cadets Championships at Grantham, Scott Anderson won a silver in the 3k Shot with a throw of 9 metres.
