Hard work and cooperation between Helensburgh AC, Dumbarton AC and Shettleston Harriers has seen the new Babcock 10km series reach new heights this year. The first race took place on a lovely summer evening in Helensburgh on Thursday. For only the second time in a number of years Shettleston did not supply the winner in the male race . In total 10 athletes from Shettleston took part picking up many prizes .Tewodle Mengisteab on the road back to fitness finished 11th (34.26) and with Brian Scally 19th (34.57), and first M50 , they took 2nd team behind Inverclyde. Next home was Lewis Raeburn in 28th position taking the first U/20 prize. Andy Jackson continues to improve smashing his PB in finishing 31st (36mins) and fresh or not so fresh from his first marathon a couple of weeks ago Chris Lipman finished 47th (36.55).Returning to Glasgow after his medical studies taking him around the world and Scotland Adam Peters continues his return to fitness finishing 49th (37.06).

New to the Master Age Group ( M40) Mark McColl finished 56th (37.42) and with Craig Shannon 177(44.39) and Richard Millar 181st ( 44.44) this completed the Shettleston athletes .Over 500 finished the race and we move to Dumbarton next Thursday for the second race in the series.
