This weekend saw action return to Grangemouth for the first weekend of the Scottish Age Championships

Saturday saw a number of medals. Andrew McFarlane picked up the U/20 Javelin (51.75m) Scottish Title which moved him into the top 10 performances of all time for the club. John Scott is doing a great job with our throwers and young Jay McCarthy produced two PB performances to take Gold in the U/15 Shot Putt (13.55 PB)and Silver in the U/15 Discus (39.01 PB). Hannah Struthers again excelled with a PB in the Discus and just missed a PB in the Shot to make the top 8 in both events.

Over on the track again PB performances where be obtained over a wide range of events. The Conteh brothers, Michael and Mayard both running excellent performances over the 100m or 200m events in their first year in the under 15 Age Group – Michael 12.47/25.46 and Maynard 13.84 PB/27.78 PB 

Not to be out done the endurance group of David Woods recorded a PB in the U/15 800m (2.16.96)  and made the final with Johnny Burns PB performance of 4.38.84 in the U/15 1500m also meant he progressed to the final. Erin Ellor ran 5.38.03 in the U/15 girls 1500m 

Day 2 of the Age Group Championships saw a small group of Shettleston athletes compete in atrocious conditions at Grangmouth. Constant rain and a flooded track  had to be overcome.

Andrew McFarlane added to his gold of the previous day with a win in the U/20 Pole Vault (4.40m). Our latest GB internationalist, Miraji Ahmed, took Gold in the Triple Jump .

Katie Woods smashed her PB with a run of 2.46.66 in the U/13 800m in her first year in the age group. Matthew Fox also gained valuable experience running the U/13 1500m ( 5.30.07) again in his first year of his age group,7th place was an excellent run.

Our two U/20 athletes, Lewis Raeburn and Jamie Burns, both made it into the final of the 1500m with Lewis taking 5th place. Jamie was forced to drop out after being sick just prior to the race start.

Congratulations to Miraji Ahmed and Mike Deason who both have been selected to compete in the Manchester International later this month. Miraji has been selected to compete for the GB Junior Team ( Triple Jump) and Mike Deason for Scotland (3000m Steeplechase)

The top pick of the Park Runs this weekend was a win for Peter Avent in the Edinburgh event in a time of 15.26
