The Emirates Arena and Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh saw our Young Athletes finish off their Winter Season before all the action turns to the outdoor Track and Field Season in a couple of weeks.

Our Under 13 Boys had made the final of the SAIL Indoor League at the Emirates Arena on Saturday. Callum Thomson kicked the afternoon off for the team by jumping a PB for the Long Jump of 3.97m. Jonathan Hooper throw a 7.31m(PB) Shot to win his event and then finished 4th in the 60m in 9.08. In the High Jump Ethan Ofeogbu equalled his PB with a 1.30m jump and then went on to break his own club record in the 60m Hurdles when he finished 2nd in 10.32. Matthew Fox also recorded a PB in the 800m with a time of 2.41.17 with Adam Clifford running 30.30 for the 200m and a PB. Their 5th place in the team event finished off a great indoor season for the boys with victory at the Superteams and a 4th place in the Scottish 4 x 200m Relay.

Before the Final we saw 5 teams from the club compete in the SAIL 4 x 200m Relay Event. In the Under 11 event we saw Naimh Fleming and Lucas McGarrity competing in their first ever event and they did really well combining with Erin Orr and Jay Simpson. The Under 13 Girls Team of Tia Clark, Emma Leiper, Chloe Fox & Katie Woods ran a season best of 2.16.31 with the boys team of Ben McLuskey, Gabriel Donaldson, Luke Struthers & Ashtin Coutts finishing 5th in their heat. Ellie Thomson, Sophie Gardiner, Jenna Dolan & Shannon Monaghan made up the Girls Under 15 Team with Michael Conteh, Joesph Hunt, Stephen Lynch & Maynard Conteh running in the Under 15 Event. Well done to all the teams.

Sunday saw the action switching to Edinburgh where the Young Athletes Scottish Road Championships were contested. Johnny Burns placed an excellent 12 in the *Under 13 Boys race with Jessica Grant finishing 61st in her race. Elsie Hollywood was 19th with Jodie Mitchell finishing 35th in the under 17 Women’s Race, Theo Carter was 36th with Lewis Hunt 46th in the Under 17 Men Event.

Meanwhile Paul Sorrie ran the Edinburgh University 5 Miles Road Race where he finished 7th overall and picked up 1st place in the Over 40.
