Lachlan Oates lead a small group of Shettleston athletes competing at the Abbey Dash 10km in Leeds. Over the years Shettleston athletes have competed at this high level 10km in the North of England .Some of the fastest 10km of the year are run on this course and Lachlan finished 19th in a fast time of 30.11(PB), finishing 2nd for the Scotland team. Next to finish for the club was Ally McLeod who was making his first run in his new home town when he finished 26th (30.41), Peter Avent finished 49th (31.33) and Kevin Brydon was 122nd in a time of 32.53.

Over the last few weeks Shettleston athletes have been competing in a number of countries. Fionnula Ross was in Germany and Ben Johnston in Canada. We have already posted that Fionnula ran a PB. Ben was making his international debut for England in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon .In very difficult conditions he just missed his PB to run 2.23.12 and finished 12th in this international race.

Next weekend Tsegai Tewedle is due to return to the marathon when he is down to run at the Beruit Marathon. After running PB’s in the Great North Run and the Great Scottish Run we hope he can get back to the form that gave him such a great run at the London Marathon in the Olympic year.
