Sunday saw the National Indoor Senior and Under 17 Championships taking place at the Emirates Arena. Our field athletes had a really successful day with under 20 , Shona Crossan , picking up her first ever National Senior medal when finishing 2nd in the Shot Putt with a PB of 11.45m. Another personal best for Teddy Tehoudja saw her picking up bronze medal in the Under 17 Shot Putt when she throw 11.82. Commonwealth Games athlete , Angus McInroy just finished outside the medals in 4th place with a throw of 13.92.

On the track Matthew Turner ran 4.04.40 for the 1500m when he finished 7th in the final. Ade Mebude ran 7.16 which got him to the Semi Final of the Senior 60m and Paul Easdale had his first outing of the year in the 200m running 24.58.

David Watson’s Glasgow  School of Sport jumping squad had a great day picking up 4 medals in the Triple Jump, gold for Miraji Ahmed, silver for Aidan Quinn and Morgan Findlay and bronze for Neve McGuire. Cara Fairgrieve and Amy Thomson also competed. Full report and results can be found at the Scottish Athletics’ website. 

Meanwhile some of our younger athletes made the short trip to the Kirkintilloch Schools Cross Country Races. After the recent wet and snowy weather the course proved to be  very muddy but the lap course was great for spectators. The young athletes put in some great performances with many picking up prizes.
Katie Woods was first off in the P5 Race where she picked up the gold medal to round off a very busy weekend. Matthew Fox was 3rd in the P6 race with sister, Chloe, also ran well to finish in the same race.  Jessica Grant and Johnny Burns both finished  in 4th place in their P7 race

In the Secondary Schools Race Erin Ellor was 1st with Chloe Orr 3rd in the S1-3 section, Kamryn Wilson also completed in this section of the race and finished 4th. The boys in the S1 – 3 filled the 1st and 2nd places with a victory for Kasey Fraser with David Woods winning the silver medal. Also in silver medal place was Lewis Hunt in the S4 – 6 race with Hannah Lynch finishing 1st in the girls event and Emma Purdie winning the bronze medal. Chloe Keenan, Olivia Miller and Niamh Smith were competing for their school.

Not to be outdone by the club’s younger members our veteran athletes were running at the LSK Road Relays at Strathclyde Park with our Over 50 team picking up the gold medal with the team of Brian Scally, Denis Williams, Billy Coyle and Walter Henderson. The team of Marc McColl, John Oates, David Murphy and John Duffy were 31st. Well done guys !
